During the April 2017 ITREP meeting, Anthony Laquerre, from the Centre collégial des services regroupés (CCSR), presented the following activity (in French):
The Scribam platform, an electronic similarities finder, was created at the initiative of the CCSR after a survey of the members of the ITREP Network. Those surveyed felt that the solutions offered were too expensive, and they could see the benefit of adopting a solution that would help detect plagiarism in the Quebec college network while guaranteeing the confidentiality of the documents. The Scribam platform allows the verification of hundreds of thousands of sources and detects, in a document, segments of texts identical to those available online. It also generates an analytical report indicating the potential presence of plagiarism as well as the sources of the plagiarized text. The CCSR hopes to offer Scribam to all its clientele at the start of the 2017-2018 academic year. During this presentation, the CCSR will introduce you to the main functions of the application and will share the future developments to be implemented in the coming years.
