During the April 2017 ITREP meeting, Vincent Laberge and Bruno Poellhuber (Université de Montréal) presented the following activity: Practices and Challenges of the Flipped Classroom in College and University (in French)
This presentation provides a portrait of the current practices and challenges of the flipped classroom, both in terms of design and use of videos and in terms of a plan of pedagogical practices used in class, from interviews done with about fifteen teachers during the winter of 2017. This presentation highlights different “models” of flipped classrooms that correspond to different means of combining the use of videos with in-class active-teaching methods. The challenges that were brought up by the teachers who were interviewed as well as their advice to teachers who would like to adopt these practices are widely discussed. An exchange period gave the audience a chance to talk about their own experiences in a flipped classroom, as well as the opportunity to identify strategies for implementing these pedagogical practices and exchange advice and ideas.
